FAQs
Frequently asked questions about our leather products.
What leather do you use?
We use several types of leather:
- Italian full grain leather buttero leather
What Is Buttero Leather?
Buttero leather is a high-quality, full-grain leather made from the hides of Italian cows, specifically known for its durability, rich color, and smooth finish. Originating from the Tuscany region of Italy, Buttero leather is often produced by the famous Conceria Walpier tannery, which uses traditional vegetable-tanning processes. This tanning method gives Buttero leather its natural, earthy tones and a firm yet flexible texture that ages beautifully over time.

Because it’s full-grain, Buttero leather retains the natural characteristics of the hide, including variations and unique markings. These attributes, combined with its ability to develop a rich patina, make it a favorite for high-end leather goods like wallets, belts, bags, and cases. Its durability and resistance to scratches and wear mean products made from Buttero leather are likely to last for years, making it a popular choice for those seeking long-lasting quality and classic elegance.
Why do you use full grain leather?
We use full-grain leather because it offers durability, natural beauty, and longevity. Unlike other types of leather, it retains the hide's strongest layer, making it highly resistant to wear and tear. Full-grain leather showcases unique markings and develops a rich patina over time, adding character with age.
What stitching do you use and why?
Saddle stitch using waxed thread (Galaces 0.6mm). We use saddle stitching because it creates a strong and durable seam, ideal for high-quality leather goods. Unlike machine stitching, where a single broken thread can unravel the whole seam, saddle stitching uses two interlocking threads that ensure the seam holds even if one thread breaks. This hand-stitching technique not only enhances the longevity of the product but also adds a beautiful touch that reflects our craftsmanship (Look closely at the stepped pattern of our stitching!). For products designed to last, saddle stitching provides a reliable and visually appealing finish that stands the test of time.
